Garden International School Expands Opportunities Across Sport and the Arts
KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Nov 2025 – Garden International School (GIS) is celebrating the impact of its RM100 million Sports Complex, which has become a vibrant hub for student learning, regional sporting excellence and community engagement following its official opening by YB Hannah Yeoh, Member of Parliament for Segambut.
The development forms part of a wider transformation of the GIS campus, which will continue with the completion of a new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre in early 2027.
Together, these landmark facilities reflect the school’s commitment to creating outstanding environments where students can discover their strengths, pursue their passions and excel across academics, sport and the performing arts.
Designed by Taylor’s Schools to bring its philosophy of developing learners who are Relevant, Responsible and Resilient to life, the campus transformation is enhancing the everyday student experience while reinforcing GIS’s position as one of Malaysia’s leading international schools.
From Vision to Everyday Impact
Spanning more than 200,000 square feet across five levels, the international-standard Sports Complex features an Olympic-size rooftop swimming pool, indoor multi-purpose courts, FIFA Youth-standard football facilities, tennis courts and a basement car park.
What was once a bold vision has now become an integral part of daily life at GIS.
Every day, students use the Sports Complex through Physical Education lessons, competitive training, co-curricular activities and recreational sport. From Early Years swimming lessons to senior competitive fixtures, the facilities are in constant use, creating an active campus culture where movement, wellbeing and learning go hand in hand.
More than developing athletic ability, these experiences help students build confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership—qualities that extend far beyond the sporting arena.

Since opening, the facility has hosted prestigious competitions including the FOBISIA Games and SEASAC sporting events, welcoming student athletes, coaches and supporters from leading international schools across Asia.
These events have transformed the campus into a vibrant centre of sporting excellence while strengthening Malaysia’s reputation as a destination for international school sport.
Hosting regional competitions has also created unique opportunities for GIS students to compete against some of the region’s strongest schools on their home campus while developing friendships, sportsmanship and cultural understanding.
The Sports Complex has also become an important gathering place for the wider school community, hosting tournaments, swim meets, festivals and sporting celebrations that bring together students, parents, alumni and visitors throughout the year.
Creating a New Home for the Performing Arts
Building on the success of the Sports Complex, GIS is now nearing the next major milestone in its campus transformation: the completion of its purpose-built Performing Arts Centre in early 2027.
Designed to become the creative heart of the school, the new centre will feature a professional 560-seat theatre, a Black Box theatre, dance studios, music rehearsal rooms and flexible performance and learning spaces.
The Performing Arts Centre will provide students with further opportunities to explore drama, music and dance, while developing confidence, creativity, collaboration and self-expression.
It will support curriculum learning, co-curricular programmes, school productions, concerts and performances, while also creating a professional-quality venue capable of bringing together the wider GIS community.
By investing equally in sport and the performing arts, GIS is creating a campus where different forms of talent and achievement are recognised, nurtured and celebrated.
Designed with Community in Mind
The campus development reflects GIS’s commitment not only to its students but also to the wider Mont Kiara community.
A new basement car park was incorporated into the Sports Complex project to help improve traffic flow in the surrounding neighbourhood, following close engagement between Taylor’s Schools, local residents and YB Hannah Yeoh.
This thoughtful approach demonstrates that meaningful educational investment can extend beyond the school gates, creating lasting benefits for both students and the surrounding community.
