Taylor’s Residence Recognised for Outstanding Student Experience at APSAA Awards 2025
Kuala Lumpur, 20 June 2025 — Taylor’s Residence has been awarded the prestigious ‘Excellence in Student Experience – University’ title at the Asia Pacific Student Accommodation Association (APSAA) Awards 2025, a leading industry accolade recognising outstanding achievement in enhancing student living experiences across the Asia-Pacific region.
The APSAA Awards celebrate innovation, quality, and measurable impact in student accommodation, and winning this award places Taylor’s Residence among top-performing university residences alongside renowned institutions in Australia and other parts of the region. It is a testament to the Residence’s commitment to delivering a holistic, purposeful student living experience that complements academic life and personal development.
The Taylor’s Residence award submission project, LaunchPad, is Malaysia’s first student-led service-learning initiative in partnership with UNHCR, incepted since 2019 to address menstrual poverty among refugee women by producing and distributing reusable sanitary pads while providing comprehensive menstrual and sexual health education to underserved communities. To amplify its impact, LaunchPad conducts a series of meaningful workshops, including sex education, train-the-trainer sessions, and hands-on pad-making activities. The project has empowered 315 student residents and supported 1,350 refugees, raising awareness and producing over 3,300 reusable pads from upcycled materials in collaboration with 18 Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). Beyond addressing immediate needs, LaunchPad continues to champion sustainable hygiene practices, strengthen community partnerships, and cultivate purposeful student development by equipping residents with real-world skills in leadership, collaboration, and social responsibility.
This initiative under Taylor’s Residence’s service-learning framework is designed to cultivate 21st Century Learning Skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, leadership, and social responsibility. Through these meaningful, real-world projects, student residents develop into engaged global citizens, empowered to make a positive difference beyond campus life.
“We are honoured to be recognised by APSAA for our continuous efforts to enrich student life beyond the classroom. This award affirms our belief that purpose-built living environments can be a powerful platform for student growth and community impact,” said Ms. Sheena Angelina, President of Taylor’s Residence.
This recognition highlights the unwavering dedication of the Taylor’s Residence team and the passion of its resident students, who come together to shape a supportive, inclusive, and impactful living community that extends learning into meaningful action.
